CARE TIPS AND DISINFECTION OF A TENT

Summer comes and with it the desire to camping, but if the tent was unused for several months is possible that this enthusiasm is opaque to find cracks, damage or dirt. As she spent many hours of our trip, their good condition is essential and worth engaging in their healthcare.

The tents are elements that support much ill-treatment. The wind, dust, moisture, dirt and action of other agents, both when they are armed and when they are saved because they do not always bend under the best conditions or are left at home in the best place. Therefore, it ‘s nice to know that in a very simple way you can make some steps. For mỏe convinient, you can opt for the best backpacking tent

It is important to know that in this report there are extreme actions necessary to remove the original and the tents waterproof because we prioritize and disinfection in cases of extreme dirt; and waterproof it again because it’s easy, inexpensive and a subsequent step if the state that deserves a thorough cleaning. Here either brands or products are recommended, freely purchasable only in supermarkets.

The most critical to decide in performing these tasks should be used when we have a tent, in a dangerous condition, or when odor and dirt time. Fabrics can acquire fungi (mold) by stored wet, muddy, dirty or unhealthy poorly ventilated places such as basements, deposits, etc.

If you keep the tent is (or have already completed steps 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7 and packed/stored correctly), we can only perform steps 3, 5 and 8 to return to camp.

1) Cleaning

To clean we will focus on sweeping, vacuuming, plump rear, etc. all waste and dirt distinguishable to the naked eye, looking after bagging, closing and discard them immediately, and considering that they may contain the “residual” poison applied if we had previously bugged. In this case, you have used a vacuum. We must discard the paper bag and sanitize the fabric filter. Synthetic filters do not allow washing machine, so it must be done by hand.

2) Wash critical for heavily soiled fabrics

In extreme cases such as sewage flooding, recovery of funding, etc., there is a significant horizontal industrial washing machine in the laundry and dry cleaning operating at low speed, start/pause / countershaft to avoid tangled and break something metallic fabric or basket. These machines no spin (which would destroy the tent) allowing gravity to drain and correct wrinkles during laying.

A tent can also be cleaned requesting service companies that are home to wash chairs and armchairs with machinery “injector/extractor”, but the end of this report is to “contribute” to our routine a self-sufficient task.

To wash in the industrial washing machine: do it for 15 minutes in cold water with a white soap melted over a cup of ammonia. Then let stand for 30 minutes and drain. Rinse with cold water 10 minutes adding a cup of antibacterial/antifungal unchlorinated.

We can also wash at home, following the steps below are recommended:

a) Stain removal

Gently brush the organic stains (food, drink, blood, urine, excrement, etc.) with “semi” sow without pressure to avoid damaging the fabric. Just accompany its weight with “weak pulse” concentrically not to spread the stain. Use a solution of 2 tablespoons of neutral detergent + 1 ammonia in a cup of warm water. If the stains were acidic (vomit, urine, excrement, etc.) previously spray them with a solution of 4 tablespoons of white vinegar per cup of water.

B) Washing

Prepare a solution of 1 cup of neutral detergent in half bucket of hot water (about 5 liters) and a brush “soft bristle” shake vigorously to create “a cloud” foam that reaches the surface of the bucket. Wetting the brush in the foam and without soaking, “drag” gently dirt only with pressure from the sow (except in a Canadian canvas tent that requires more energy) following the plot of the fabric always up and down, for the action of the brush and allow gravity and fall of dirty soap product.

C) Rinse

Rinsing should be acting after the applied products. It should be done with towels or rags 100% cotton, soaked in fresh, clean water, dragging the soapy residue of each treaty sector. As the cloth will absorb the soap is rinsed, drained and wetted again in the bucket clean to remove all soapy residue.
